MARCH 2024: TRAXX F140 AC1 in FLEX DESIGN
Peek-a-boo! A fourth member of the FLEX design family appeared in March 2024. This was the modern classic electric 145 088 built by Adtranz (Bombardier) which the operator took over from SRI Invest:
August 2023: The FLEX EuroDual and VECTRON DUAL MODE come to life
August 2023 marked the introduction of two more locomotives wearing the signature design. These were the Stadler EuroDual 2159 253 which FLEX Bahndienstleistungen is leasing from ELP (or European Loc Pool), as well as the Vectron Dual Mode 248 071, leased from Northrail.
As seen in the image above the design was specially edited to match the shapes of both locomotives.
MARCH 2023: A NORTHRAIL SMARTRON IS THE FIRST ONE TO ENTER THE SCENE
OnTrack already had experience with making Siemens Smartron locomotives green (see the BDZ PP livery). But in 2022 a new project was started in collaboration with Railcolor Design for Flex Bahndienstleistungen and its Northrail-leased locomotive 192 059.
ABOUT THE DESIGN CONCEPT
Two directions and many paths to follow. Officially titled “Adern des Netzwerks” (or “The veins of the network” in English), the design refers to Flex’s specialty services: high-quality first/last mile operation at local hubs – interconnected by long-distance services.
REFRESHED FLEX LOGO INCLUDED
As part of the project, a more modern version of the Flex logo was conceived to match the striking identity of the locomotive. A neon-blue lighting was added to the existing typography, symbolizing modernity as well as the groundbreaking technological achievements that power these vehicles.
The locomotive officially debuted in mid-March 2023 and marked the start of a series of livery designs that RailcolorOntrack will be developing for the German operator.
